We will spend most of our time in the greater Belfast and Camden area. If you are commuting to join us during the day we will provide you with specific locations upon enrollment.

Driving South - Drive south on Interstate 95 from Canada, take Exit 45, heading East on I-395 in Bangor. Take the first exit ramp right onto the Route 202 bypass to Hampden. At the end of the bypass turn left onto Route 9, and at the light turn right onto Route 1A South. Route 1A ends at coastal US Route 1 in Stockton Springs.

Birchwood Lodge and Farmette

Camden, Maine

If you would like to stay with us during the length of the retreat we have booked accomodation at the beautiful Birchwood Lodge and Farmette. The owners of the Inn were inspired by their stay at a simple Italian agritoursimo and have tried to recreate this experience giving it a unique Maine flavor. Extensive gardens surround the property where produce is grown to make fresh scones for guests. The Birchwood Inn has many sustainable practices such as: recycling, repurposing, composting and operating a solar thermal hot water system. You will see locally produced and made products as well as plant-based products to replace plastics.

The rooms are designed in the Maine cottage-style. Each room has one Queen bed and two sitting chairs; private bath; cable television; telephone; A/C; heat; solar hot water; and free WiFi. Soundproofing between guest rooms and Maine-made mattresses for a peaceful night’s sleep after a day of activities.

Simple light continental breakfast: locally roasted fair-trade coffee, tea, fresh fruit and home-baked scones..

Birchwood Inn and Farmette physical address:
530 Belfast Road, Camden, Maine 04843

Birchwood lodge & farmette is about 2 -1/2 hours from Maine's southern border. Head North on I-95 to I-295N through Portland. I like to go through Portland, especially if you want to stop for some great eats. Take Exit #28 Bath/Brunswick to US Rt. 1N (If you mess up and miss Exit #28 you can also take Exit #31 through Topsham). Follow Rt. 1 (about 45 minutes); Left onto Rt. 90 (this is a bypass); follow Rt. 90 to its end; Left back onto Rt. 1N through Camden. Birchwood is on left about 2-1/2 miles north of downtown (1 mile North of the Camden Hills State Park main entrance). If you miss exit 28 or 31 or if you require an alternate route due to heavy summer traffic: stay on I-95 through Augusta and pick up Rt. 17 towards Rockland. Left on Rt. 90 to Camden. This is a longer route.
